The world innovation PCS® (preventive contact system), the world’s first and only non-contact safety device for sliding table circular saws, is at the center of Felder Group Bulgaria‘s participation at this year’s TECHNOMEBEL exhibition. Preventive Contact System, which will be demonstrated from March 31 to April 3, prevents serious accidents on the formatting circular saw.
“Accidents are now a thing of the past – successful woodworking is in safe hands with PCS®,” the company says. In Hall 4, Stand C3, Felder Group Bulgaria will present a machine equipped with the system.
The process is contactless. When an unexpected, rapid approach to the saw blade area is detected, the PCS® triggers the safety mechanism and lowers the saw unit down. A capacitive safety field surrounds the saw blade and prevents access from all directions.
Lightning-fast action
PCS® is triggered at the speed of light. When a risk of accident is detected, the system triggers the saw blade to lower under the table. The functionality based on electromagnetic repulsion allows for an instant response of a few milliseconds. The advantages of using the system are:

Today, all state-of-the-art and formatting circular saws must have standard safety equipment – a splitter and a circular saw dust collector, in accordance with the applicable regulations of the DGUV (German Social Accident Insurance) for accident prevention. For several years now, there has been a technical solution that largely prevents cuts due to the instantaneous stopping of the circular saw blade, but this damages the circular saw blade itself, as well as the circular saw itself.
