More than 11,000 visitors at Technomebel and World of Furniture

Over a total area of 14 500 sq.m more than 180 companies demonstrated the trends in the sector

Style, elegance and modern technology welcomed more than 11,000 visitors that visited the exhibitions Technomebel and World of Furniture from 24 to 28 April at Inter Expo Center – Sofia. The biggest Bulgarian exhibitions for the furniture industry are organized by Inter Expo Center and the Branch Chamber of Woodworking and Furniture Industry (BCWFI).

Continuing the positive trend from the previous edition in 2016, the specialized exhibitions have registered an increase in terms of booked exhibition space and in attendance. Technomebel reported a strong international presence. Besides Bulgarian companies, there were participants from Germany, Greece, Italy, Macedonia, Poland, Romania and Turkey. More than 90% of the exhibitors at World of Furniture were Bulgarian manufacturers.

During both exhibitions, over 180 companies presented their products, while the number of represented companies outnumbered 350. The latest technologies and products in the woodworking and furniture manufacturing sector were exhibited in six exhibition halls over a total area of 14 500 sq.m .

Technomebel and World of Furniture – with an ever higher level and attractive booths

“Each year, the level of Technomebel and World of Furniture is increasing and the quality of the products is getting better”, commented Ivaylo Ivanov ,Manager of Inter Expo Center. He points out that companies are showing their products in a more attractive way at the exhibitions. The furniture industry creates 2.5% of the national added value, informs Galin Gospodinov, chairman of BCWFI.

According to Lachezar Borisov, Deputy Minister of Economy, the average annual value of the production in the furniture sector reaches BGN 1 bln. At the opening ceremony, he expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the representatives of this sector and the machinery that manufacture the products are brought together in one place – at Technomebel and World of Furniture,

For yet another year, foreign visitors had the opportunity to join the Hosted Buyers Program, which allows for b2b meetings, creating new contacts and business development. More than 30 representatives of foreign companies were able to benefit from the program. The exhibitions were visited by business delegations and merchants from Armenia, Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Georgia, Canada, Romania, France, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Outside the Hosted buyers program, the exhibitors had visitors from Austria, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, India, Israel, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Macedonia, Moldova, Russia, USA, Serbia, Turkey, the Czech Republic and Finland.

The latest in furniture industry and the solutions homes, offices and hotels

Woodworking and furniture manufacturing machines were some of the highlights at Technomebel. Exhibitors offered solutions for cutting, milling, planing, edging, drilling, screwing, surface finishing … and much more. The viewers’ eyes were attracted by the live demonstrations with the MEBOR HTZ 1000 automated woodworking machine. There were demonstration of CNC machines, drilling equipment, programmable woodworking lathes, automatic edging machines, painting equipment, furniture and upholstery materials, Packaging equipment. Visitors at Technomebel were able to see the latest decors of plates, foils and edges from leading global manufacturers. For the complete ergonomics and convenience of the exhibition there were presented fittings for transformation of furniture, systems for sliding and lifting doors. Furniture manufacturers have seen a great variety of furniture doors, kitchen appliances, sinks and faucets, as well as a wide range of wood processing materials – adhesives, lacquers, varnishes and natural oils.

World of Furniture offered hundreds of beautiful and functional products. Visitors could enjoy classic furniture, hand-crafted carvings combined with cutting-edge technology, a variety of upholstered and cabinet furniture, elegant bedrooms and a range of other interior solutions. Stylish and versatile sofas were also among the exhibited products. In the days of the exhibition visitors could also see massive wooden tables made of whole oak lamellas. Part of the rich range of products included office and bar chairs, as well as aluminum and rattan furniture suitable for gardening. Participating companies also showed their interesting proposals for interior textiles – curtains and drapes, coverlets, textile blinds, decorative cushions made of fabrics and many more textile accessories.

As part of the accompanying program, the young Bulgarian designers from Cherga Group demonstrated the successful practice of a Bulgarian manufacturer. “It is important to know what customers need in a fast-growing world,” commented at the event Galin Gospodinov, chairman of BCWFI.

In his Imprint workshop, Atelier Trion has delivered a demonstration that old things are not worthless. Every visitor could create decorative cushions himself, only needing to have brought a useless woolen or cotton cloth – for the cushion filling.

7th edition of Bulgarian Furniture of the Year Awards

Traditionally, for the 7th time, there were distributed the Bulgarian Furniture of the Year awards. The contest was joined by 15 companies with a total of 20 products. The first prize went to WOOD LINE with its table Asimetrik, and second and third prize went to – Love 2 Design (with their council table Exclusive) and Aktiv Dekor (with a kitchen island). A special prize was awarded to ZORA STYLE. The first prize of the visitors’ vote was won by the meeting table Exclusive by Love Design Design Studio. The second and third prize respectively went to Harmont (with a mattress and bed “Motor Boxspring Bed”) and Aktiv Dekor with “Kitchen Island”. For the first time this year was held a contest for the best booth. The winner of THE Booth at Technomebelis Interior-I, while TED BED was the winner of THE Booth at World of Furniture.

Study visits “STUDY VISITS” were also held within the framework of the exhibitions. Students from the vocational high schools in Plovdiv, Velingrad, Pernik and Sliven could learn themselves novelties from the companies in the sector. On the last exhibition day, at the official ceremony, the winners of the Children’s Drawing Contest “My Dream Home ” were also nominated.
